Creator of Explorer 233
August Peekay is the pen name of the creator behind Explorer 233. The project began with a question: what might the future look like when Africa is not the background, but one of the places shaping it?
The pull toward this story is a long-standing one—a career in technology alongside a lifelong interest in science fiction, astronomy and writing. Ghanaian American, he divides his time between Ghana, the United States and the United Kingdom.
Explorer 233 is not a first attempt at fiction. He writes poetry occasionally, self-published a collection of short stories some years earlier, and writes more regularly at The August Dispatch.
Explorer 233 is being developed as a connected story IP—one that can move between serialized fiction, visual art, games, products and live experiences without losing its Ghanaian point of origin.
Why 233
233 is Ghana’s international calling code. It anchors the franchise to the place from which it is being imagined.
